Belinda Buxton’s photography work was recognised at The Societies of Photographers’ annual awards
Awarded the Special Recognition Award for services to the industry, Belinda Buxton was both shocked and humbled to scoop the accolade at the recent awards ceremony in London.
Belinda, whose studio is based in Wymondham, has been a member of The Societies of Photographers since 2008. The annual awards ceremony is the culmination of a week of events including educational classes and a trade show and offers the chance for members to come together and celebrate one another’s work.
The award not only recognises Belinda’s work within the field of photography but also her volunteering efforts elsewhere. For more than 27 years she has volunteered for St John Ambulance and throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, providing training to those involved in the UK’s vaccination roll-out.
Since restrictions have lifted, Belinda now spends her Sunday mornings volunteering on the SOS Bus in Norwich to keep the city safe.
Commenting on her award win, Belinda says: “I was absolutely shocked but so proud to be chosen for this award. I was in tears all the way to collect it and all the way back to my seat. Every time someone hugged and congratulated me, I started again. I still keep thinking: ‘Was it a dream?’.”
